Statement on the Passing of Congressman Bill Pascrell, Jr.
On behalf of the Board of Directors of the New Jersey State Society, I am deeply saddened by the passing of Representative Bill Pascrell, Jr. Congressman Pascrell was not only an impactful and passionate legislator but also a loyal friend and advocate of the New Jersey State Society. Throughout his remarkable career in public service, Congressman Pascrell remained dedicated to the people of New Jersey, always ensuring that their voices were heard in the halls of Congress.
Congressman Pascrell’s contributions to our nation and his home state are countless. From his early days as a high school history teacher in Paterson to his distinguished service as a member of the House Ways and Means Committee, he exemplified what it means to be a public servant. His relentless work to improve healthcare, infrastructure, and the lives of veterans has left an indelible mark on our communities.
Beyond his legislative accomplishments, Congressman Pascrell was a beloved figure at the New Jersey State Society events in Washington, D.C. His warmth and hospitality were evident at these gatherings, where he would personally ensure that everyone had enough to eat, embodying the spirit of community that he cherished.
Even those who may have disagreed with Congressman Pascrell's policies could not help but admire the man behind them. His kindness, humor, and genuine care for others made him a beloved figure. His presence will be sorely missed, and his legacy of service will continue to inspire us.
The Board of Directors and the entire New Jersey State Society community are holding Representative Pascrell's wife, Elsie, their children, and grandchildren in our thoughts during this difficult time. He will be remembered as a tireless advocate for New Jersey and a true friend to all who knew him.
