Cherry Blossom Taste of the States and Congressional Reception

NJSS members welcomed our 2013 Cherry Blossom Princess, Hannah Rimar, and the other state princesses at the annual Cherry Blossom Congressional Reception on April 10 and the Taste of the States Dinner at Fort Myer, VA on April 11.

At the Congressional reception in the Cannon House Office Building, our Princess, Hannah Rimar of Califon, NJ, was introduced and escorted by Lautenberg Chief of Staff Dan Katz. Hannah is a staff assistant for the Senator.

Also present were officials from NJ-based pharmaceutical company Otsuka, the top sponsor of the NCSS's National Cherry Blossom Princess Program. These included Molly Ryan, Tami Carten and Chad Ozbecki. Also in attendance was NJSS Vice President Steve Oriol.

The next night, at the Taste of the States event at Fort Myer, guests enjoyed food and beverages from every region of the United States.

Thank you Campbell Soup Company and your Pepperidge Farm Division for donating the gourmet Ecce Panis rolls, made in East Brunswick, NJ. They were a big hit!

At our New Jersey table, we had a display honoring The Garden State as a center of agriculture. We reminded guests that the Jersey Shore is open for business this summer and that New Jersey is a center of US-based manufacturing.

In addition to Campbell Soup and Otsuka, thanks also go to Daiichi-Sankyo, Panasonic and Prudential for supporting us and ensuring that New Jersey could participate in this event and the cherry blossom festival in general.
