WE WON! JERSEY POWER retains national state society softball title

The New Jersey State Society kept its national title September 22 in the annual tournament of the National Conference of State Societies and US Territories in the Nation's Capital.

It was not without a fight! In the final championship game, the Virgin Islands fielded an amazing team, but we won 14-13 in two extra innings.

Thank you to our leadership team, coaches Joan Kato and board member Jason Tuber, manager Taylor Mellaci and NJSS Board Members Tom Saunders and Adam Higgins. Hats off to our talented players, and to our ladies, our secret weapon!.

Last year the hearty sluggers and fielders of our Jersey Power brought home the national trophy for the Garden State in the National Conference of State Societies tournament. This year, the other states are out to get us!

Wish us well Saturday, September 22, as we seek to defend the title and hold on to the coveted trophy during a brutal, day-long battle.

The game will be played on the fields at West Potomac Park, Washington DC, in the vicinity of Field 6. Our start time is 9 am and we should still be working our way up or down "the ladder" at 3 pm, aiming to hold on to our beautiful trophy. Often the tournament goes to 5 pm or longer.

Fans are welcome to attend, cheer us on and share in the refreshments!

WALKING DIRECTIONS: If you are at the Lincoln Memorial, cross over toward Ohio Drive, walking toward the Potomac River. Follow Ohio Drive around along the river bank and heading toward the Roosevelt Memorial. Long before the memorial, you should see teams playing on the left side of the road. (The river is on your right) Look for the check-in table and officials will point out where we are.
