New Jersey at the National Book Festival

Join the New Jersey State Society, the NJ Center for the Book (NJCFTB) and our State Librarians at the National Book Festival Saturday, August 31. You can find us between 10 am and 5 pm at the New Jersey table at the Pavilion of the States in the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.

Our librarians will be there encouraging reading, greeting children, stamping their maps and handing out pencils, pins, and other New Jersey-themed items.

Please stop by and view the exhibit of the chosen two online series: The Jersey Trackers and the Imagination Tree and The Jersey Trackers: The Greatest Mystery in all of History.

The new series tells the following story: The Imagination Tree has been planted on the grounds at Rutgers, and the kids have been taking turns caring for it. But when they arrive one Saturday to prepare for a visit from the President of the United States, they find the tree sagging and wilted. Even more bizarre, they all had the same dream the night before-- to gather at the tree and lay their hands on it at the same time. The moment they do, the world around them vanishes, and they find themselves not only in another place, but another time. They have been teleported to the colonial era, where they will take the first step in a journey that will introduce them to some of America's most colorful characters. At the same time, they will learn more about the nation's past than they would have ever believed -- including one lesson that might be the most important of all.

The State Library, along with the NJ Library Association and the NJ Association of School Librarians is excited to be a part of a special initiative in collaboration with The New Jersey Center of the Book, the College of New Jersey, and Rutgers University.

The Convention Center is at 801 Mt. Vernon Place, NW, Washington, DC. Take the Yellow/Green Line to Mt. Vernon Square.
