New Jersey at the National Book Festival

Join the New Jersey State Society and the NJ Center for the Book (NJCFTB) at the National Book Festival Saturday, September 1. You can find us between 10 am and 4 pm at the New Jersey table at the Pavilion of the States in the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.

Our 2018 NJ Cherry Blossom Princess Sophia Czerniecki will be there from 10 am to 1 pm, helping our top NJ librarians as they greet children, stamping their maps with a starfish stamp, unique for our state, and handing out NJ-loves-readers pencils, NJ pins, mints, pamphlets and road maps of NJ supplied by the Southern Ocean Chamber of Commerce. In addition, there will be an easel asking participants the question: "NJ wants to know... What is a book that you cannot live without?"

Our homestate librarians will include Renee Swartz, chairperson of NJCFTB, Kathy Picarello, chairperson of the NJCFTB Book Festival, and Sharon Rawlins,Youth Services Specialist from the State Library in Trenton.

The NJ table display will showcase the "Jersey Trackers" on-line serial which is featured on the website under the E-SERIES tab at the top.

The display will include sample books from each author and illustrator who participated in this series. The first chapter in the series will be available for participants along with the NJ Tracker book marker.

Be sure to take a picture with our librarians and Sophia for your facebook page and share with us! Check back here for which times Sophia will be volunteering.
