Lighthouse Challenge and NJSS reception at Kelsey's Atlantic City
Take the Jersey Shore Lighthouse Challenge and join us Saturday, October 19, 4 to 6 pm, at a reception at "Kelsey's" a premier Atlantic City supper club at 1545 Pacific Avenue. Enjoy complimentary, soul-inspired appetizers and happy hour drink specials. There is no charge to attend.
We encourage you visit some of the lighthouses on Saturday and Sunday and donate a few dollars along the Jersey Shore to the different Lighthouse museums. However, you do not have to take the Lighthouse tour in order to attend our meet-up. Please try to at least visit the Absecon Lighthouse in Atlantic City, NJ's tallest lighthouse, open until 8 pm on the 19th. Kelsey's is only a short Atlantic City Jitney ride down Pacific Avenue from the lighthouse.
We are please to use this opportunity to satisfy requests that we have an event in NJ, rather than our usual DC base, for our many facebook friends and inaugural gala guests who live in NJ.
Here are the basics: The Lighthouse Challenge of NJ is a rain or shine, two-day opportunity to visit 11 land-based lighthouses. two museums and two life-saving stations. Participants may purchase a souvenir pamphlet for only $1 and have it stamped at each stop of your journey! Some locations will offer t-shirts and posters for sale.
This event encourages you to have fun exploring coastal New Jersey while raising the funds needed for the continued preservation of these beautiful historic sites!
Participants will drive their own cars on Saturday and Sunday, traveling either from South to North or from North to South. You may participate on one or both days.
On Saturday, 4-6 pm, NJSS will host a meet-up reception at Kelsey's, located a short walk from many casinos and the boardwalk, and a quick jitney ride down Pacific Avenue from the lighthouse. There are plentiful, reasonable accommodations nearby for those traveling from DC, see:
