Annual Cherry Blossom Princess Grand Ball
NJSS President Donise Cameron and our NJ Princess Hannah Rimar point to NJ, where the wheel should have stopped!
The Princess Grand Ball began at 6 pm with the sushi reception, where guests enjoyed complimentary Cooper's Hawk Champagne, Sapporo Beer and Sake from Yaegaki Sake & Spirits, Inc., while sampling sushi created by the master sushi chefs of Japan.
Then the ballroom doors opened, inviting guests to their tables for dinner with the princesses, guests from Japan, and other dignitaries.
Following dinner, the princesses were formally introduced during the Grand March by the Master of Ceremonies. Our princess, Hannah Rimar of Califon, NJ, was escorted by Isaiah Joo and both sat with us at the New Jersey table.
With the spinning of a giant wheel, one princess became the 2013 U.S. Cherry Blossom Queen--the princess from Oklahoma, and she was crowned with the spectacular Mikimoto Crown, a priceless Japanese work of art.
The evening rounded out with our guests dancing to the sounds of Big Band Caliente, as well as a DJ later in the evening with all the top-40 hits.
Once again we want to thank the NJ firms whose support enabled us to participate in the National Conference of State Societies Cherry Blossom Program, ensuring that New Jersey is well represented at the national events:
The week ended with the Cherry Blossom Parade and the Sakura Matsui street festival on Saturday.
