GRIDIRON CLUB: SKITS, MUSIC & POLITICS WITH LEADING JOURNALISTS
Our NJSS guests at the Gridiron pre-show reception.
You have been hearing about the 128-year-old Gridiron Club in Washington, DC, for years, with its famous dinner and next-day reprise, with national journalists in amazing costumes spoofing Republicans and Democrats with entertaining parodies.
Every year our NJSS members and friends are invited to the Sunday afternoon reprise and we gather for a glass of wine (or two) before the show begins.
Journalists who spent some time with our NJ group this year were Mark Shields of PBS NewsHour, Susan Page of USA Today, Carl Leubsdorf of the Dallas Morning News, Doyle McManus of the LA Times, David Corn of Mother Jones and Jim Angle of Fox News.
For those who have never seen this historic, musicial, satirical performance, you can't go through life without seeing it at least once, so please plan to join us next year. You can expect to rub elbows with well-known Gridiron Club members such as:
Bob Schieffer of CBS,
Dan Balz of The Washington Post,
Chuck Todd and Andrea Mitchell of NBC,
Jim Angle of Fox News,
Susan Page, Chuck Raasch & Ron Cohen of Gannett,
Carl Leubsdorf of Dallas Morning News
Mark Shields, columnist & NewsHour
John Dickerson of Slate,
David Espo of the Associated Press,
Al Hunt of Bloomberg,
Jerry Seib and Janet Hook of The Wall Street Journal,
Todd Purdam of Vanity Fair
Jeanne Cummings of Politico.
before they don their costumes and entertain us.
